Lagoda Team Showdown 2026

Lagoda Team Showdown is a team disc golf tournament that will be held for the third time on 29 and 30 August 2026 in Varaždin, at the same time as the street festival Špancirfest so tournament participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the festival together with Varaždin residents and other visitors to the city during their free time.

If you are coming to the tournament for the first time and would like to learn more about the destination and the event from a disc golf tourist perspective, you can find additional information on our dedicated page.

This team disc golf concept has been played as a side event at the Drava Forester tournament since 2017 and has always attracted strong interest from participants. It was first held as a standalone PDGA team tournament in 2024 with 6 teams, followed by 8 teams in 2025.
The first edition of the Lagoda Team Showdown was won by Birdogey Bros with the team consisting of Antonio Grigić, Adrian Liber, Andrej Kozic and Dino Harambašić. You can read the report from that tournament on a dedicated page.
The second edition of the tournament was won by DGK Stubaki with the team consisting of Mario Mesaric, Tomislav Kačavenda, Ivan Klanjčić and Renato Balen. Tournament results are available on the PDGA event page.

Competition Rules - Team Formation

A team consists of four players. The average PDGA rating of all team members may not exceed 888, meaning that the sum of their PDGA ratings may be no more than 3,552.
The valid PDGA rating of each team member on the date of registration will be used.

If, after registration, the ratings of team members increase in the rating update on 13 May or earlier, the registration will no longer be valid and the team must submit a new registration with an adjusted roster and a total rating of no more than 3,552.
If the ratings of team members increase in rating updates in June, July or August, the team will still be allowed to compete in the tournament.

If a player does not have a current PDGA rating (for example, because they have not paid their PDGA membership for the current year or have never been a member), the following criteria apply:
- If an unrated player competed in tournaments in 2025 or 2026 and the average rating of their last 9 rounds is higher than 888, that value will be used as their rating.
- If an unrated player competed in tournaments in 2025 or 2026 and the average rating of their last 9 rounds is lower than 888, a rating of 888 will be used.
- If a player did not compete in any PDGA tournaments in 2025 or 2026, a rating of 888 will be used.

In specific cases (for example, a highly skilled player without PDGA membership or a rating), these rules may be supplemented as necessary.

Competition Rules - Format of Play

The Lagoda Team Game format presents teams with a tactical challenge: they need to plan which team member is best suited to take the tee shot on each hole and how to organize play on each individual hole after the tee shot, depending on the position from which play continues.

The game itself is played similarly to regular doubles, but with four players instead of two, under the following basic conditions:

A team consists of 4 players
1. One team member makes each individual throw
2. Each player must make the tee shot on 4 holes (out of the 16-hole course)
3. During play, the team decides which player will make the tee shot on each hole. The same player may, for example, make the tee shot on four consecutive holes.
4. After the tee shot, the other team members continue play on that hole until every player has made one throw. After that, any team member may make their second throw. If play continues, the remaining team members then make their second throws. If all players have made two throws and the disc is not yet in the basket, the team proceeds to a third round of throws, and so on. Play on the hole ends when the disc is holed out.

Scores will be recorded online using PDGA Live, but each team will also receive a paper score sheet to track, for both teams, which players have made throws and to ensure that play follows the established rules.

If one team member withdraws from further competition (for example, due to injury), and the team has completed the round, the team may register a replacement player for the upcoming rounds, provided that the previously stated player-rating requirements are met.

The tournament entry fee is €120 per team and must be paid to the Lagoda j.d.o.o. account before the event. The fee includes tournament organization, the Croatian Flying Disc Federation fee, prizes for the top three teams, and pizza after Round 3 on Sunday.
