3rd Masterpiece was held

Masterpiece is a tournament that held its third edition on May 9–10, 2026 in Labin as the fourth station of the Croatian Disc Golf League in the 2026 season.

The tournament was organized by Lagoda Disc Golf in cooperation with local partners from Dubrova Sculpture Park, with support from the Labin - Rabac Tourist Board and Valamar. A total of 57 players from Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Serbia and Iceland participated in the competition.

The official accommodation of the tournament was Valamar Sanfior Hotel & Casa in Rabac, whose services were used by 24 competitors and their families, generating 108 overnight stays. As the remaining participants independently booked accommodation in other facilities, it is estimated that the tournament generated more than 200 overnight stays in total, thus contributing to tourism traffic during the pre-season period.

The third edition of the Masterpiece tournament began with a players meet-up on Friday evening, May 8, at Villa Rosa dei Venti.

The competition itself started with the first round on Saturday at 10:00, lasting approximately two and a half hours, followed by a two-hour break for individual lunch arrangements. Play continued with the second round at 14:30, lasting between 2:15 and 2:45 hours. The game took place in pleasant sunny weather with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius, while light wind occasionally affected play. Fortunately for the players, Saturday rain lasted only around 15 minutes and occurred during the break between the first and second rounds.

The tournament concluded with the final third round played on Sunday from 10:00 in pleasant cloudy weather once again, while the winners ceremony was held at the course starting at 12:30.

The competition was played in two “elite” divisions – the MPO Open division and the FPO Women’s Open division – as well as three lower divisions for players of both genders grouped according to their rating.

In the lowest Purple division (for players rated up to 800), Neno Šobak (DGK Varaždin) claimed victory among 8 players with a result of +19 relative to course par.
In the middle Green division (for players rated up to 850), Haukur Arnar Árnason (Iceland) won among 7 players with a score of +6 relative to course par.
In the highest Red division (for players rated up to 900), Mario Adžič (Slovenia) won among 16 players with a result of -11 relative to course par.

In the FPO Women’s Open division, 7 competitors participated, with the title won by Barbara Poljšak (Slovenia and FDK Nova Gradiška) with a score of -5 relative to course par. Second place went to Maja Šimenc (DGK Lagoda, Varaždin) with +18, while Katerina Zbytovska (Iceland) finished third with +20.

In the MPO Open division, 19 competitors participated, with the title won by Tomislav Goricki (FDK Zagreb), who completed the course at -19. Second place with -18 went to Gerald Wölbl (Austria), while third place was shared by Domen Juhant (Slovenia) and Marijan Krištofić (Slovenia and DGK Stubaki, Stubičke Toplice) with -17.

The best men’s round of the tournament was a 47 (-10, PDGA rating 1,009), played by Gorički in Round 1. The best women’s round was a 55 (-2, rating 914), played by Poljšak in both Round 1 and Round 3.
Complete tournament results can be found on the PDGA page.

Side events at the tournament included the Putting contest, Ace Pool and Overachiever award.

Putting contest was held on the beach area near the official tournament hotel on Saturday evening, with participation from 29 players.
All participants putted two discs from 5 positions, with the best nine advancing to the finals. The finalists were Andrej Slavič, Wolfgang Steinmetz, Tomislav Frković, Josip Bosnjakovic, Val Martic, Antonio Grigić, Adis Isanovic, Adrian Liber and Marin Grbac. In the first final round, only three players hit the basket from the distant position and advanced further – Andrej Slavič, Wolfgang Steinmetz and Tomislav Frković.
In the following round Steinmetz was eliminated, followed by Slavič, leaving Frković as the winner.

Ace pool participation cost 1€, and 40 players entered. The only ace of the tournament was scored by Neno Šobak on Hole 13, but since he had not entered the ace pool, the amount of 40€ remained in the pot for the next Lagoda tournament.

Overachiever award is awarded to the competitor who plays the tournament furthest above their rating on average (according to current PDGA ratings). All tournament participants with a PDGA number, active membership and at least 20 rated rounds included in their rating are eligible for this competition.
The winner of the competition was Doris Wiesbauer (Austria).

The tournament concluded with a raffle where selected players could choose from prizes worth more than 150€ in total.
