Day 4, August 21st, 2021 - Round 2

On the final day of the competition during the morning rounds Great Britain has won 6:2 against Croatia while France has won 6:2 versus Spain.

With those scores in the books Croatia ended up on the 3rd place winning bronze medal, France took 4th and Spain took 5th.

In the final match of the event Austria was playing against Great Britain and both teams were tied up in the lead with 6 points. Even though British players tried to fight, in the end Austrians have won all four matches and took the gold with a score 8:0.

After four days of competitions and 15 matches played, Austria has won a Gold medal at the first European Team Disc Golf Championships without losing a match. Great Britain has won Silver, and Croatia took Bronze. France, after playing two matches against Spain, finished on the 4th place, and Spain ended up on the 5th.

France vs Spain 6:2

In the MPO1&FPO doubles game French Thomas Bourgoin and Loralie Lanneluc have won over Spanish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez and Ana María Álvarez Menéndez by 5 shots with 3 holes to play. French double was in the lead from 1st hole played, they didn’t lose it anymore so the match was completed after 15 holes played.

In the MPO4&MPM doubles game French Nathan Lanneluc and Brice Daniel have won over Spanish Manuel García García and Manuel Angel Almeida Posada by 3 shots with four holes to play. Spanish double was leading for the first 3 holes, but French have tied the game at 4th hole, and got in the lead afterwards. After 11 holes played French had only a single shot lead, but then they managed to win 2 out of 3 holes and close the game.

In the MPO2 singles game Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs has won over French Guillaume Brice by 5 shots with 3 holes to play. Merlin was in the lead from the second hole, and didn’t allow Guillaume to catch up with him, so with 3 holes to play his lead was large enough and match was won.

In the MPO3 singles game French Mickael Rolin has won over Spanish Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro by 3 shots with 2 holes to play. Jorge was in the lead by 2 shots after two holes, but Mickael did quickly turn the game around and was in the lead by 1 after 7 holes played. For the next 6 holes no player managed to break away, until Mickael took points on holes 5 and 6 (their 15th and 16th played) what was good enough for a win.

Great Britain vs Croatia 6:2

In the MPO1&FPO doubles game British Ben Davies and Bella Tait have won over Croatian Marko Marčec and Danica Pajtak by 3 shots with 2 holes to play. Even though British double was in the lead from 2nd hole, the game was tied after 9 played, but then British double managed to break away, win two holes in a row and win the game.

In the MPO4&MPM doubles game British Matt Parslow and Adam Keen Koon have won over Croatian Vanja Brozović and Tomislav Gorički by 8 shots with 7 holes to play. Croatians could not fight agains stronger British double and without winning a single hole they have lost their game.

In the MPO2 singles game Croatian Nino Đurak has won over British Noah Smithson by 6 shots with four holes to play.  Noah had the early lead, but Nino immediately fought back, had a lead after three holes played, and didn’t stop until he was way ahead and closed the game after 14 holes played.

In the MPO3 singles game British Josh Birmingham has won over Croatian Aleksandar Vucković by 8 shots with 7 holes to play. Josh got out on the course strong and started winning holes right from the start so Aki did not managed to win even a single hole, and the game was over after 11 holes played.

Austria – Great Britain 8:0

In the MPO3&MPM doubles game Austrian Florian Lingenhel and Otfried Derschmidt have won over British Josh Birmingham and Adam Keen Koon by 6 shots with 4 holes to play. Austrians have been in the lead since hole one, and did not give much to their opponents in this game.

In the MPO2&MPO4 doubles game Austrian Stanislaus Amann and Leon Sonnleitner have won over British Noah Smithson and Matt Parslow by 3 shots with 2 holes to play. British double was newer in the lead but they put a good fight and after 8 holes the match was tied, but then Austrians won holes 9 and 10, for a two-shot lead and they tit not let it out of their hands anymore.

In the MPO1 singles game Austrian Bonaventura Amann has won over British Ben Davies by 4 shots with 3 holes to play. After 8 holes played Bona was just one shot up, but then he managed to slowly grow his lead and bring two points for Austria.

In the FPO singles game Austrian Laura Posch has won over British Bella Tait by 2 shots with one hole to play. Laura took the early lead, but Bella managed to tie the game at hole 7, and she even got in to the lead on hole 9, but Laura quickly fough back, and won next three holes to be back in the lead by 2 after 12 holes. Bella then tied the game once again on hole 14, but Laura managed to win two out of three coming holes and secure the win.




Day 3, August 20th, 2021 - Round 2


Second round of competition started on Friday’s afternoon with two matches.

Austria has played Croatia in the final round and has won 6:2 after some thrilling moments when Croats had a chance to, at least, take 4 points. On Saturday’s morning Croatia will face British team, and in the afternoon Austria and Great Britain will close the event.

In the battle for 4th place France has won their first match against Spain with 7:1, but some games were not as easily won as the final results seems, and considering that they play one more match, French lead is still not unbeatable.

Austria vs Croatia 6:2


In the MPO1&MPO3 doubles game Austrian Bonaventura Amann and Laurenz Schaurhofer have won over Croatian Marko Marčec and Aki Vucković by 3 shots with one hole to play. Even though Croats had a 3-shot lead after 7 holes played, Austrians managed to bring back their focus and start winning holes and after 10 played the game was tied again. At the end, with 17 holes played, Austrians have won, and took 2 points for their team.

In the MPO2&FPO doubles game Austrian Stanislaus Amann and Laura Posch won over Croatian Nino Đurak and Ana Goricki by 4 shots with 3 holes to play. Croats were in the early lead and managed to keep match thrilling for 11 holes as neither team had a lead larger than one shot, but then Austrians won holes 14, 16 and 17 to close the game and bring two points for their team.

In the MPO4 singles game Austrian Leon Sonnleitner has won over Croatia Aleksandar Bato Sudzukovic by 6 shots with 5 holes to play. Bato managed to keep up with Leon for the first four holes, but Leon then stepped up, won hole 9, their 5th to play, and proceeded to win further 5 out of 8 holes played to secure two points for Austria.

In the MPM singles game Croatian Tomislav Gorički has won over Austrian Otfried Derschmidt by 3 shots with 2 holes to play. Tomislav was in the lead for most of the game with Oti bringing the game to tie only at their 13th hole, but losing further three holes what has brought 2 points for Croatian team.

France vs Spain 7:1

In the MPO1&MPO3 doubles game French Thomas Bourgoin and Mickael Rolin tied a match against Spanish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez and Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro. French double was in the lead from second hole played with and their lead was switching from 1 to 2 shots, but at the end Spanish double took the lead with 3 holes to play. Unfortunately for them, they did not manage to keep up on that, and French won a hole to bring the game to the tie.

In the MPO2&FPO doubles game French Guillaume Brice and Loralie Lanneluc won over Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs and Ana María Álvarez Menéndez by 1 shot after all 18 holes played. Spanish double never had the lead but kept fighting and did not allow French players to close the game, and event tied the game with 1 hole to play, but in the end they have lost a final hole and therefore the game.

In the MPO4 singles game French Nathan Lanneluc has won over Spanish Manuel García García by 6 shots with four holes to play. Nathan had a lead from the start, but as Manuel kept fighting, it took some time for Nathan to build up his lead and finally close the match.

In the MPM singles game French Brice Daniel has won over Spanish Manuel Angel Almeida Posada by 4 shots with 3 holes to play. Brice was leading from the start of the match, but Manuel fought hard and scoring points was not to easy for Brice, so it took him 15 holes to close the match and bring two points for France.




Day 3, August 20th, 2021 - Round 1


Inaugural European Team disc Golf Championship has continued today with final matches of round one determining three teams that will move to the final round and two teams that will play for the 4th place.

 After all teams played each other Austria had 27 points and has been on the on top of the leader board. Great Britain was holding second with 22 points and the third team that has managed to enter a final stage was Croatia with 12 points. Even though Croatia didn’t play on the Friday’s morning, and France had needed just a single point from their match against Austria, they have failed to earned it. So, in the end, after losing 8:0 versus Austria, French team has ended up on the 4th place with 11 points while Spain took 5th with 8 points.

Therefore, in the final round we will see Austria, Great Britain and Croatia playing one match agains each other to decide who will take gold, silver and bronze. On the Friday afternoon Austria plays Croatia, on Saturday morning Great Britain will play Croatia and then final match of the event will be Austria versus Great Britain starting on Saturday at 13:00 CET.
France and Spain will play two matches, one on Friday afternoon and another on Saturday morning to decide who ends up on the fourth and fifth place.

Austria vs France 8:0
In the MPO2&MPO4 doubles game Austrian Laurenz Schaurhofer and Leon Sonnleitner won by 4 shots with 2 holes to play over French Brice Daniel and Nathan Lanneluc. After five holes played Austrians were four shots up, but French stepped up their game and after next 6 holes they managed to lower Austrian lead by one shot, but then they didn’t managed to keep up and eventually, after 16 holes played they have lost the game, and Austria has won 2 points.

In the MPO3&MPM doubles game Florian Lingenhel and Otfried Derschmidt won by 3 shots with 2 holes to play over French Guillaume Brice and Mickael Rolin. This game started on hole 3 and it was a tight play for the first 14 holes played as Austrians were up by not more than a single shot, but then they managed to win holes 17 and 18 to close the game and bring another two points for Austria.

In the MPO1 singles game Austrian Bonaventura Amann has won over French Thomas Bourgoin by 5 shots with 4 holes to play. Thomas managed to stay in the competition for first 7 holes when he was just 2 shots down, but reaching hole 14, their 10th hole played, Bona has won 2 out of 5 holes and pushed the other three to win the match.

In the FPO singles game Austrian Laura Posch has won over French Loralie Lanneluc by 5 shots with four holes to play. Both players played the same score on first five holes, but then Laura stepped up her game and managed to win 5 of next 9 holes to close the game.

Great Britain vs Spain 7:1
In the MPO2&MPO4 doubles game British Noah Smithson and Matt Parslow have won over Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs and Manuel García García by 7 shots with 5 holes to play. Spanish double managed to keep up with British double for the first four holes, but then they lost 6 out of 8 holes and the game was lost.

In the MPO3&MPM doubles game British Josh Birmingham and Adam Keen Koon have won over Spanish Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro and Manuel Angel Almeida Posada by 5 shots with four holes to play. For the first 9 holes played Spanish managed to keep up and were down by just two shots, but then British double won 3 of 5 holes and earned another two points for Britain.

In the MPO1 singles game British Ben Davies and Spanish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez played a match that ended up in a tie and both teams got a single point. Federico was in the lead by a single shot for most of the match, and had a putt for the win, but at the end Ben forced a tie.

In the FPO singles game British Bella Tait has won by 6 shots over Spanish Ana María Álvarez Menéndez. Even though players tied first three holes, for the rest of the match Bella was slowly winning holes , and lost just one, to finally close the game with 5 holes to play.




Day 2, August 19th, 2021

Inaugural European Team disc Golf Championship has continued today in Varaždin, Croatia with four matches or first round.

After eight, out of ten, matches being completed Austria is in the lead with 19 points while Great Britain is second with 15 points. Croatia currently holds third place with 12 points, just one more over France that has 11, but Croatia has played all four of their Round 1 matches and France needs just a single point won in their upcoming match against Austria. Spain is at the 5th place with 7 points, and only a “miracle” win of 6 points against Great Britain in addition to France scoring less than 2 points versus Austria could get them a spot in the final group.

Top three teams will enter a final group playing each other in a single match for the podium positions while teams four and five will play twice(in different pairings) to determine the winner of the 4th place.

Austria vs Croatia 6:2
In the MPM&FPO doubles game Austrian Laura Posch and Otfried Derschmidt have won by 4 shots with 3 holes to play over Croatian father and daughter Tomislav and Ana Gorički. In this game Croats had an early lead (on hole 3), and game was tied after 8 holes played, but then Austrians managed to win four holes in the next 7 holes played, and secured two points for Austrian team.
In the MPO1&MPO2 doubles game Austrian siblings Bonaventura and Stanislaus Amann have won by 5 shots with 3 holes to play over Croatian Marko Marčec and Nino Đurak. This game was tied after first 8 holes played, but then Austrians won holes 9, 10, 11, 13, teams pushed on 12 and 14, with Austrians winning hole 15 to secure another 2 points for their team.
In the MPO4 singles game Austrian Florian Lingenhel started strong against Croatian Vanja Brozović and had 3 shot lead after three holes, but then Vanja managed to step up a bit and reduce it to 2 shots for a bit, until Flo, once again proved his skills and won 5 holes in a row for a 7 shot win with 6 holes to play.
The only points for Croatia were scored by Aki Vucković in MPO3 singles match agains Laurenz Schaurhofer. Aki was two shots up after two holes, and even though Laurenz did tie up the game for a while, Aki newer allowed him to take the lead, and eventually won the game by two shots with one hole to play.

Great Britain vs France 6:2
In the MPM&FPO doubles game French Brice Daniel and Loralie Lanneluc have won by one shot after all 18 holes played. This match has been very tight as neither team had more than one shot lead and after few exchanges of the lead, the game was tied with 3 holes to play. Teams pushed on holes 4 and 5, and then on the final hole played, hole 6, French double managed to win a hole and game, earning two points for their team.
In the MPO1&MPO2 doubles game British Ben Davies and Noah Smithson won over French Thomas Bourgoin and Guillaume Brice by 3 shots with 2 holes to be played. Even though British players were in the lead by 1 to 3 shots, French double kept putting up the pressure until they lost another hole (1) and after teams pushed on hole 2, the game was over as the lead was 3, and only two holes were left to be played.
In the MPO3 singles game British Josh Birmingham has put his foot on the gas from third hole played and has won 6 out of 11 next holes with losing just one, resulting in a 6-shot win with 5 holes to be played.
In the MPO4 singles game British Matt Parslow has won over French Nathan Lanneluc by 1 shot after completion of all 18 holes. Matt never allowed Nathan to take the lead, but the game was thrilling as both players won several holes and Nathan had a game tied after 13 holes played, but then he has lost 2 holes, won back one and he could not repeat that so a win and 2 points went towards British score.

Austria vs Great Britain 5:3
In the MPO1&MPM doubles game  Austrian Stanislaus Amann and Otfried Derschmidt have won over British Ben Davies and Adam Keen by 5 shots with 3 holes left to play. After seven holes Austrians were just 1 shot up, but then they stepped up their game and won 5 out of 8 holes and secured two points for their team.
In the MPO4&FPO doubles game Austrian Leon Sonnleitner and Laura Posch played agains British Matt Parlsow and Bella Tait. British double started better and had a 2-shot lead after 5 holes, but the trend then turned and Austrians won some holes to get 2 shots up, but in the end British double managed to win two more holes and the game was tied, earning 1 point for each team.
In the MPO2 singles game Austrian Laurenz Schaurhofer played against British Noah Smithson. Eraly in the round Noah has won two holes, but he could not hold on to the lead for a long as Laurenz did fight back and after 5 holes they were tied. From that point on the trend was that they would exchange in the lead by 1 shot, until Laurenz managed to win the 17th hole played and took a win by 2 shots, bringing two points for the Austrian team.
In the MPO3 singles game British Josh Birmingham has won over Austrian Florian Lingenhel by 6 shots with four holes to play. Flo managed to win the first hole, but then Josh tied it up, and no change happened for additional 2 holes. Bus, as of hole 5 Josh was scoring, and, with Florian making mistakes, got to the seemingly easy win.

Croatia vs Spain 6:2
In the MPO1&MPM doubles game Croatian Marko Marčec and Tomislav Gorički played agains Stapnish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez and Manuel Angel Almeida Posada. This game was tied pretty much from start to the end, with only few holes won by either team, but ended up in a draw and shared points among teams.
In the MPO4&FPO doubles game Croatian Aleksandar Bato Sudžuković and Danica Pajtak played against Spanish Manuel García García and  Ana María Álvarez Menéndez. This game was, again, a thrilling one with both doubles in the lead by no more than 1 shot until they reached final 5 holes. At that moment Croatian double managed to start winning and took shots at holes 2, 3 and 4 what was good enough for a win with 2 holes to play and 2 points for Croatian team.
In the MPO2 singles game Croatian Nino Đurak has won over Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs by 5 shots with 3 holes to play. Starting the round at hole 1 they played a tight match for the first 7 holes with Nino in the lead by just one shot. At that moment Nino stepped up his game and managed to grow his lead to 5 shots and end up the match after 15 holes played.
In the MPO3 singles game Croatian Aki Vucković played Spanish Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro. This was one more tied match with not many holes won, and the biggest lead was just a single shot, but in the end, after 18 holes played, the match ended up in a tie sharing points between two teams.

Final matches of the Round 1 will be played on Friday morning starting at 10:00.
France will face Austria and Great Britain will play against Spain. These matches will consist of doubles games MPO2&MPO4 and MPO3&MPM and singles matches between MPO1 and FPO players.





Day 1, August 18th, 2021

Inaugural European Team disc Golf Championship has started today in Varaždin, Croatia with World Flying Disc Federation as organizer and Lagoda Disc Golf as executive producer of the event. Even though first edition of this continental Championship, due to Covid19 restrictions and other circumstances (3 teams had to cancel their participation in the last few weeks) will see only five national teams it will for sure be a great start for future growth of team disc golf events in Europe.

Over four days national teams of Austria, Croatia, France, Great Britain and Spain will battle at the Drava Forester course for medals and World ranking points, while champions will be crowned on Saturday after the completion of the final round.

All teams will play each other during the first stage of competition and try to win as much points as possible. Three teams with most points will then play another round where they will play each other for the distribution of podium places, while teams finishing on 4th and 5h place in round one will play a match for the fourth place.

Today, on the first day of the event, we have seen four matches and currently France, playing two matches and eight games, leads the field with 9 points, just one over Austria who competed in just a single match, and four games. Great Britain, after a single match has 6 points, while Spain and Croatia, both playing two matches, have 5 and 4 points.

In the MPO1&MPO4 doubles Bonaventura Amann and Florian Lingenhel have won against Spanish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez and Manuel García García by 5 points with 4 holes to play and earned 2 points for their team.
In the MPO2&MPO3 doubles Stanislaus Amann and Laurenz Schaurhofer have won agains Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs and Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro by 4 points with 3 holes to play and earned 2 points for their team.
In the MPM singles match Otfried Derschmidt has won a game against Spanish Manuel Angel Almeida Posada by 6 points with 4 holes to play and earned 2 points for his team.
In FPO singles match Austrian Laura Posch has won against Spanish Ana María Álvarez Menéndez by 2 points with one hole to play and earned 2 points for her team.

In the MPO3&FPO doubles match British Josh Birmingham and Bella Tait have won against Croatian Aki Vucković and Ana Gorički by 4 points with 2 holes to play.
In the MPO4&MPM doubles match British Matt Parslow and Adam Keen Koon played versus Croatian Aleksandar Bato Sudzukovic and Tomislav Gorički. Even though Croatian double had a 4 point lead after five holes played, British double managed to fight back and tie the game at the final hole so each team has won a single point.

In the MPO2 singles match British Noah Smithson played against Croatian Nino Đurak and after 18 holes a match ended up in a tie so each team has won a single point.

In the MPO3&FPO doubles match French Mickael Rolin and Loralie Lanneluc played against Spanish Jorge Berástegui-Sampedro and Ana María Álvarez Menéndez. N a very tight match neither team has ever had more than two stroke lead and at the end a game finished in a tie with each team winning a single point.
In the MPO4&MPM doubles match French Nathan Lanneluc and Brice Daniel played against Spanish Manuel García García and Manuel Angel Almeida Posada. Spanish double, managed to score a point on the final hole 6 and that way earned a win and two points for their team.
In theMPO1 singles match Spanish Federico José Sörenson Sánchez has won by three points with 2 holes to play agains French Thomas Bourgoin and scored 2 points for his team.
In the MPO2 singles match French Guillaume Brice has won against Spanish Merlin Sales Tomàs by 3 points with 2 holes to play earning two points.
