The disc golf league along Vodovodna Street in Varaždin has been held regularly since spring 2022 with the goal of promoting and popularizing this sport. The competition is organized by the Varaždin-based Disc Golf Club Lagoda, and the league director is Dinko Šimenc, with Tina Šimenc as the coordinator.
Each league season consists of a series of eight weekly rounds, most often held on Wednesday afternoons, and a total of four seasons are planned throughout the year.
In case of rain or bad weather, the round is rescheduled to another day, usually Tuesday or Thursday. Each round consists of two 9-hole rounds and lasts on average about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
For regular communication with participants and for round registration, a private WhatsApp group is open, and all league participants are invited to join.
Everyone is welcome to participate – children, seniors, and complete beginners. The league is also open to tourists, who are welcome to join even for just one round.
Current

League Rules for 2025
- Four league seasons (A, B, C, and D) are played throughout the year, each consisting of 8 rounds. The first season usually begins with the switch to daylight saving time (i.e., when days are long enough for play to start at 5 PM and finish before dark).
- Each season is played over 8 rounds, typically once a week on Wednesday afternoons. After switching to winter time (October 26, 2025), the league will be played on weekends until all 8 rounds of season D are completed. If there aren't enough available dates to finish the league by year-end, multiple rounds may be held in a single week.
- All leagues are played at a common scheduled time announced weekly, EXCEPT the 3rd league, where participants can also play at another time, allowing those with work or other commitments to participate.
- The competition takes place in the 1st Women's League, 1st Junior League, 1st Mixed League, 2nd Mixed League, and 3rd Mixed League.
- The 1st and 2nd Mixed Leagues include a maximum of 10 players each; all others play in the 3rd league. The 1st Women's and 1st Junior Leagues have no participant limit for 2025.
- A participation fee is charged for the 1st and 2nd Mixed Leagues, paid in advance for the entire season (all 8 rounds), at €10 per player. Children, students, and those without regular income are exempt. In the 1st Women's League, experienced players (those with PDGA membership and a rating above 700) pay the fee, while others are exempt.
- The fee is used to finance small trophies and end-of-season awards, and if needed, mowing or equipment (if enough is collected, course upgrades such as new tees or baskets are also possible).
- A player eligible for a spot in the 1st or 2nd league must confirm it by paying the €10 fee before the first round. If the player doesn't want to participate in the higher leagues, they can compete in the 3rd league for free. The same applies to women required to pay the fee in the 1st Women's League – if they want to play recreationally, they may join the 3rd Mixed League.
- A player who qualifies for a higher league may decline promotion, in which case they continue in the 3rd Mixed League. The next eligible player takes their spot in the higher league.
- In each round, the league winner scores 10 points, second place gets 8, third 7, fourth 6... and the last 0.
- If a player arrives late to a round, the following rules apply. If late to up to 2 holes in the 1st round, those holes can be played after finishing the round. If late to more than 2 holes, a score of 5 is recorded for each missed hole.
- The first round of each round is played in mixed groups from all leagues, and the second round is played in groups formed by league (or minimally mixed to complete groups).
- The season consists of 8 rounds. After 7 rounds, each player who played all 7 has their worst result removed. After the 8th round, their second worst result is also removed.
- At season end, a winner is declared for each league.
- At season end, the bottom two from the 1st Mixed League are relegated to the 2nd league, and the top two from the 2nd league are promoted to the 1st. Similarly, the top two from the 3rd league move up to the 2nd, and the bottom two from the 2nd drop to the 3rd.
- To be eligible for promotion to a higher league, a player must participate in at least 3 rounds.
- If players tied for promotion or relegation, the following criteria apply:
- Who had more head-to-head wins in rounds they both played
- Who has more round wins
- Who has the best single round result
- Who has the better 2nd best round
- Who has the better 3rd best round (etc.)
