PDGA EuroTour

Pro Forester will be held in Varaždin as the first of 12 Euro Tour events, from June 9 to 11 2023. This competition will also be one of the qualifying tournaments for the prestigious USDGC tournament.

The organizer of the competition is PDGA Europe, the local organizer is Disc golf club Lagoda, and the executive organizer is Lagoda j.d.o.o. company. Starting from 2012 until the end of 2022 Lagoda Disc Golf team has organized almost 90 international disc golf tournaments with over than 1.000 different participants from 31 countries. Among events we have run we especially emphasize the 10 editions of the season ending party event Drava Forester, the 2018 European Championship (Toplice Sveti Martin), 2021 WFDF 1st European Team Disc Golf Championship and WFDF 4th World Team Disc Golf Championship, which was held in Varaždin in 2022 with the participation of 25 national teams of four continents.

The city of Varaždin is the center of the Varaždin County, one of the 21 Croatian regions, and a place rich in history that today has 44.000 inhabitants. In the middle of the 18th century, the city was the capital for the 21st year, i.e. the administrative center of what was then Croatia, but after the great fire in 1776, power was returned to Zagreb. Then the city was rebuilt in the Baroque and Roccoco styles, so today it represents the best-preserved urban complex in continental Croatia, and the city center is a large pedestrian zone full of historic houses, buildings and palaces, on the edge of which there is a fortress surrounded by earthen ramparts, which was built from 12th to 16th century. The competition will take place on a temporarily course that will be set up next to the Varaždin Arena - in the Jelačićka forest and on the embankment of the Drava river. We are sure that the course will provide the players with the pleasure of the game, but at the same time a challenge in solving the problems that the technically demanding fairways will set before them. Registrations for the event are open through the Disc Golf Scene, and are separated as two PDGA events, one for the MPO and FPO divisions and other for the "Masters" divisions for players over 40 years of age (MP40, FP40, MP50, FP50 , MP55 and FP55).
Registration will open for all divisions on January 9th 2023.

If you arrive to the tournament with your own vehicle, you can drive all the way to the course next to Arena Varaždin, where there is a large number of free-of-charge parking spaces.
At the time of the Pro Forester tournament, the European competition of robotic sports RoboCup Junior will be held in the Arena, so there is a possibility that there will be a limited number of free spaces available in the parking lot.
If you come to Varaždin by public transport, then you can use the Taxi service, and you will pay around €4-5 for one-way transport inside the city.
All players who come to the tournament by plane and want us to organize a transfer for them can contact us to get advice on the choice of airport, the time of arrival and departure with the aim of connecting several people to the same transfer (e.g. transport by van or minibus) in order to make the transfer price per person as low as possible.
Players who come without their own vehicle will be offered the option of in-city transfer from the official accommodation to the course and back, and a Taxi service is always available at the previously mentioned prices.
Read more about arrival, airport shuttle and transfers.

For players who will be traveling further to Euro Tour #2 Konopište we offer the possibility of organizing a transfer by car, van or bus. The expected duration of the trip to Konopište is, with stops, 9 to 10 hours. The price will be determined upon request.

For Pro Forester 2023 the official accommodation in Varaždin itself is trully limited because two more large evens will be ongoing in the city. The RoboCup Junior robotic sports competition with expected 800 - 1.000 participants and the seventh edition of TIE FLY (caravan of luxury sports cars) with expected 100 participants will be sharing the city with disc golfer. In cooperation with our partners, the travel agency Vall Tours, we booked accommodation in the Maltar Guesthouse for 20-30 persons, and in the Toplice Sveti Martin resort (30 minute drive from Varaždin) for larger number of persons. We invite all participants who intend to play Pro Forester to contact us as soon as possible and reserve their accommodation because it is very possible that, later in the year, there will be no other available accommodation in Varaždin area.
Booking your stay through us and Vall Tours helps us run the event so, if possible, use our services. (read more)

What kind of weather can you expect for the event?
Spring time in the Varaždin area is likely warm, and it starts to heat up early in June, but it can also stay rainy for a few days. In the past few years mid to late June were the warmest, and a bit too hot, time of the year, but most likely it will be rather enjoyable for the Pro Forester 2023.
